The Storyline
It makes sense that considering what the human race has managed to destroy up until now, it would be some other species who brought us concepts such as peace and harmony.
But until that tuesday you were looking to the stars for the answers, when al lthe tiem the solution was at your feet.
You see, on that tuesday was when it all started. It had been an average day. Average daily routine, average daily grind, average daily schedule.
But then you went to sleep. And woke up here.
A candle flickers some distance away in a large underground cavern. At least it looks large from where you're standing.
So you stagger forwards, your legs down work properly none of you works properly, joins bend the wrong way.
Head spinning you look for somthing to drink. in a far corenr there'sa small pool of water. Approaching it you stare deep into it, the reflection staring back at you.
Reason argues with what you just saw as stumbling backwards you look up into the eyes of another.
A giant rodent of some dresription, standing over you, smiling, looking you right in the eye as it's jaw opens swiftly.
And says "Hello."
Apodemus Sylvaticus is about that story for several people.
Mice are fighting back and you're thier wepons. Individually picked for differnet reasons, you're the last hope for both mice and the human race.
The chemical they gave you which did this was one dose of only a few. They can't re create it becausei t was never created by them i nthe first place. A long time ago, it was delivered by it's creator, alogn with instructions for it's usage.
No other information was given however.
When the whole party of ex-human is united they aregiven a choice.
Stay and help the mice or go out and find a cure for the drug.
Either way theywill have NPCs helping them. In the first option it's obvious, but the mice want to know the secret behind the chmical tranformation for a later idea of thiers.
IF THE PLAYERS STAY
If the players stay they are introduced to the society of the mice, have ot tackle problems liek any others andeventually help out the rebellion. Though this path the characters learn about the plight of the mice and eventually help the resistance against the whole human race.
The rebellion could take many different paths depending on how the players decide it should go.
Will they try a political takeover? They could try to get hold of a Nuclear missile, or invent a strain of mixametosis for humans.
It all depends on the ideas of the players.
IF THE PLAYERS SEEK A CURE
If the players seek a cure they find the truth behind the chemical. It was invented by german scientists during World War II, It was never found because its's creater was accidentally contaminated with it and after seeing the war fro mthe viewpoint of the peaceful cities of mice, decided that the chemical should notbe commercially existant.
So he took a few samples and torched his research. The few doses that e had he decided would be of use to the mice in the future if they ever needed to do something about the human race going too far.
The search for the cure will reveal both this an an unusual truth about the secodn world war- namely the cloning of hitler. It's an idea that has been used by many a B movie but no one realises that it is acutally possible. That embryo in the jar with a toothbrush moustache could come to be a problem, especially as there are several of them and some are nearly fully grown.
The story could virtually go on forever, and the two plots may eventually get merged in the search for the ultimate wepon to destroy the human race.
